Sociocultural approach
The sociocultural approach
The sociocultural approach examines the effect of environmental and cultural factors on behaviour. This approach argues that our behaviour is influenced by other people, even when we believe we are acting independently. The focus in this unit is on our social identity, how individuals behave in groups, cultural influences on behaviour, and the role of globalization on identity.
- To what extent is our behaviour determined by the society and culture in which we live?
- How do psychologists study the effect of socio-cultural factors on human behaviour?
- What effect does globalization have on our behaviour? (HL only)
