Phosphoryl chloride, \({\text{POC}}{{\text{l}}_{\text{3}}}\), is a dehydrating agent.

POCl3 can be prepared by the reaction of phosphorus pentachloride, PCl5 , with tetraphosphorus decaoxide, P4O10.
