As stated in a G2, since no example is specified for gene transfer in the guide, candidates could have studied examples that start with mRNA or from a gene in DNA. Since the former would not use enzymes to cut DNA, candidates would choose D, whereas those who had studied a DNA example would choose A, so both answers A and D have been considered as correct.
